If you don’t work hard, you will never ever stand a chance to make it.

If you could describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?

Mother, Wife, Strong

What is the biggest obstacle you have overcome in your career/life?  What were the tools that were pivotal in overcoming that time? How have you learned from it, how have you changed?

It would have to be battling injuries in sport and just continuing to believe in yourself no matter what other people try to say. I think my biggest thing is always trying to stay positive even when things seem to be really tough.

Even if it has to take more time… staying patient and being ok with being in the moment of the slow process.

I am not competing today but I do the same thing in my everyday life at the moment with my kids.

If you could go back and tell your 12 year old self something, what would it be?

Speak up and Never ever stop dreaming and try in live in the moment 100% of the time. As we get older we get so into our heads.

If a young ski racer asked you for advice on “how to make it” what would your best piece of advice be?

If you don’t work hard, you will never ever stand a chance to make it. Give yourself the time to really work on what you want to achieve.

What is something the majority of people don’t know about you?

I would have to say I am still very competitive with myself. HA! I absolutely love being a mom, but I think a lot of people can maybe already see that. I would not trade any type of other job for it.

What does “Project Athlete” mean to you?  How do you relate to it?

I love the MOTO you guys support. That we are all different yet we are all the same. That is so true. We all have our differences and our loves, our hates… but at the end of the day we really are all the same and need to support each other.

If there was a book written about you, what would the genre be?

hmmm. I have no idea…. Maybe a memoir… haha boring maybe. Or… maybe romance.. lol!

What is something beautiful that you see everyday?

NATURE! My favorite…. Just being outside in it.

You are a retired Olympic Alpine ski racer and your husband Mike is a goaltender for the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL.  Are you two competitive together?

I will have to say yes…. When we play with our kids and if we both are involved we usually have a little competition. Like soccer on the beach with the kids… we def try a little harder. lol! I think its more us laughing and pushing and shoving but it is competitive. My husband might be the most competitive person I know!

What are some myths and realities you want people to know about being a spouse of an NHL hockey player?

People see it as being glamours and it has its perks, but its also sometimes lonely. They are away a lot and our world has to revolve around his schedule. So that can be hard at times, but we do get a lot of time together in the summer to spend as a family so you make up for it.

Do you want your children to ski race or play hockey? It’s tough to do both, right?

My kids love SPORTS. Hockey, baseball, surfing, soccer, golf and they even started skateboarding recently are are super into that. It is hard to tell what they will want to do since they are still quite young but I just want them to do exactly what they are doing now.

                      Loving all sports!!!!!

You’re a mom of 4 children, what strength do you rely on when things get challenging?

PATIENCE…. And more patience. It is trying to stay calm when things get a little hairy or somebody hasn’t stopped crying or whining about something ridiculous! LOL!

What is the single, best realization you have ever had?

I said this earlier but its trying to live in the moment 100% of the time. Especially now with social media etc.

It is so easy to get sucked into scrolling through your phone for 20 minutes without realizing it.

Trying to be as present as I can be with the kids since they need me and I need eye contact with them to really know what they need emotionally, physically or even mentally. That connection you get when you can talk to somebody with eye contact is so pure.

What do you want your legacy to be?

Hmmmm this is tough…. I guess it would be.

Just a strong woman… that loves to smile and laugh! And dance….lol!
